shredding the gnar

Since I was busy packing, moving and then unpacking through the entire month of December, I didn't get a chance to hit the snow at all in 2012. Once January / February came around there were a few big storms that brought a lot of snow and made for some really excellent snowboarding conditions.

I went up three times this year in total, all day trips which worked out really well. We timed all our trips perfectly so that as soon as the storm has dumped all the snow, Saturday morning at 5am we were in the car and headed north.

I'd say by my third time there, I had made some significant improvement with my boarding skills. Hopefully next winter I will have many more opportunities to improve and work on my skills!

warriors v. lakers

 After work for Brett's birthday we all met up and decided to eat at this place called Texas Road House. None of us had eaten there before but it was only 9 miles from the colosseum, so we decided to give it a try. They had huge portions and an endless supply of fresh homemade bread and peanuts on the table. We were all so full at the end we could hardly move - but we piled back into the car and headed up to the stadium. {Oh, did I mention it was pouring rain??}

We arrived at the game in plenty of time to find our seats and then find our favorite beers. The first couple of period's the crowd was pretty quiet and the Warriors were down. Then in the 4th period, the last 12 minutes of the game, the Warriors seemed to wake up and suddenly start giving the Lakers a run for their money. The last five or sick minutes just turned into a complete nail biter with who was holding the lead. Unfortunately in the last few seconds, Kobe was fouled and successfully made his two free throws, to bring the final score to 101 W - 104 L. It was still an amazing game to watch and definitely one of the most exciting sporting events I have ever been to.  So Happy Birthday boyfriend, I hope it was all you could have wished for!

my superbowl sunday {in iphone photos}

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and are recharged and ready to take on this week.

For the most part I had a pretty relaxing weekend and just decided to lay low for most of Friday and Saturday; Sunday however was a different story. I woke up early, ready and excited for the Superbowl. In the morning Brett and I went for some breakfast and came up with the game plan. We ended up going to three different grocery stores and party city to get all the supplies for the day. Then we came back and started to get things ready but since it was only noon we had some time. Realizing what time it was,  Brett quickly turned on the Puppy Bowl and we watched the adorable little puppies score some touchdowns of their own. If you have not heard about the Puppy Bowl I suggest you click the link and see for yourself. This year was Puppy Bowl 8 so I think you should check it out. From then on it was nothing but delicious food and drinks and heart pounding moments which eventually ended poorly for me. I am just happy they made it this far and were able to compete in the Super Bowl. I did not have my camera with me but I was able to take some pretty awesome pictures with my iPhone! What do you think? Tell me your favorite way to watch the Super Bowl.

taking it back old school

This weekend we decided to head west for an adventure by the sea. The weather could not have been any more perfect and the beach we decided to go to had some really great waves. There were a lot of people out trying to catch a ride on their skim board.

We had packed up and at the gas station I realized we didn't have anything to play with {football, volleyball, frisbee...} so we ran into this little local toy store across the street and let our imaginations run wild. I literally could write an entire post on all the amazing toys they still have that I used to play with and all the fun exciting new ones that have come out. Anyways, take a look at what I found! {the last picture} Please tell me you remember playing with these as a child; the little flat disks that you velcro to your hand and then take the little tennis ball and throw it to your partner and catch it on the disk? Let me tell you, it was just as wonderful as it was when I was 7. I definitely suggest you dig these out of your house or garage or go out and pick it out before they disappear!

french fries, beer and baseball

Being a part of a sorority was such a life changing and wonderful experience that I knew I wanted to continue to embrace this sisterhood after my college days. I found an alumni chapter right here in my hometown, called the Silicon Valley Phi's. They try to get together once a month and put on or host some events so the ladies  can get together and spend time and enjoy eachother's company. With my boyfriends mom's also a fellow phi and member of this alumni group we decided to take advantage of this upcoming event and supported our local minor league baseball team, The San Jose Giants! Going to the games are so much fun, you can usually score some free tickets or pay a small price for a seat. They have big bbq's going, bars set up and some amusement type games for the kids. It was the perfect evening as the sun set during the game. Also when the game was over they had an amazing 15 minute firework show! All in all, I'd say it turned out to be a great night out.
