my bags are packed

Hello everyone! On Wednesday morning I am taking off for a little vacation for 2 weeks! I am extremely excited because the last time I went somewhere was back in February and as you know I was in Boston for a few days and I was a busy bee blogging all about it! Well I am headed off to Scotland and England to visit the fambam as I do every couple of years. This is probably my 12th visit or so but I never get tired of being over there. I will do my best to keep you all updated and blog about my adventures but I am not taking my laptop with me this time because it is just extremely heavy and with my iPad I don't think I really need it. I probably won't post pictures until after I am back, but don't worry I will definitely be putting some up on Twitter so make sure you follow me here.

I am sorry that I don't have a picture for you, I definitely had every intention of taking some photos of things I have packed and things I can't leave home without but I have been rush, rush, rushing to get out the door. Please forgive me :]

Next time I post it will be from a different country in a different time zone, watch out UK I'm coming for you!

taking it back old school

This weekend we decided to head west for an adventure by the sea. The weather could not have been any more perfect and the beach we decided to go to had some really great waves. There were a lot of people out trying to catch a ride on their skim board.

We had packed up and at the gas station I realized we didn't have anything to play with {football, volleyball, frisbee...} so we ran into this little local toy store across the street and let our imaginations run wild. I literally could write an entire post on all the amazing toys they still have that I used to play with and all the fun exciting new ones that have come out. Anyways, take a look at what I found! {the last picture} Please tell me you remember playing with these as a child; the little flat disks that you velcro to your hand and then take the little tennis ball and throw it to your partner and catch it on the disk? Let me tell you, it was just as wonderful as it was when I was 7. I definitely suggest you dig these out of your house or garage or go out and pick it out before they disappear!

sometimes, I just want to be outside

Between a two hour commute to work and spending all day in the office, sometimes the last thing I want to do is stay inside. Especially when the weather has been so nice lately. I convinced the boyfriend instead of going to the gym to go outside and take me on a hike! These are some pictures I took while we were hiking, I tried to take a cutsie picture on the ground of the two of us, but my camera decided to focus on the grass in front of it and make us blurry. After looking at it though, I am starting to like it more and more. The sunset wasn't the best because there were no clouds and instead a nice layer of smog above the city, but I made do. We even met a couple 'friends' on the trail. What do you think? :]

the before

I found my dad's old 1980's 10 speed road bike in the garage and decided to make it my little project and tune it up and make it my size. This is the bike how it is. I don't really know how far I am going to go with this because it can be quite expensive to change all these little details such as: tires, the seat, handlebars, etc. I checked to see how much it was going to cost to get it powder coated... about $150.00. That is almost the price of another new bike I like.  But be sure to check back and see the finished product post!
Oh, Happy Monday to all you lovelies :]

gilroy garlic festival

This past Friday, Saturday & Sunday the city of Gilroy held it's 33rd Annual Garlic Festival. I have actually never been before and neither has my boyfriend. It was kind of a spur of the moment decision to go, so Saturday around 2.00 we decided to head down. After sitting in traffic for what seemed like forever, we finally arrived! There was so much going on we didn't know where to start. There were food tents set up all around the huge park, some food more normal than others. Example; garlic fries = yumm, garlic ice cream = icckk! We also tried garlic egg rolls, garlic noodles, garlic chickn kabob, garlic bread twists and garlic calamari. The egg rolls and noodles I have to say were surprisingly delicious! I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

There also were local vendors set up displaying their art, jewelry, clothing, accessories and other fun things. Even Scope had a booth set up with free samples and sinks for you to use to get rid of your garlic breath!  They also had stages set up with cook-off's and demonstrations, as well as live music playing. It turned out to be a really fun afternoon and I am glad we went. Definately a must for someone who hasn't been or even someone who hasn't been in a long time. I am already looking forward to next year, hope to see you there!!

jason aldean

Howdy, y'all! The day after my birthday on the Wednesday we went to the Jason Aldean / Clay Walker concert. I could not have asked for a  more perfect evening to be outside listening to country music. It was a completly sold out show, such a huge turnout! And I am slowly but surely convinving the boyfriend to like some country music. Dragged against his will {well, not quite} he ended up really enjoying it and having an amazing time!

birthday celebration

Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, friends and family I had an amazing birthday despite being on a Tuesday.
How gorgeous are my flowers?! I just adore sunflowers so my multiple bouquets were put together with so many amazing flowers! I love them. Everytime I walk into the house you can smell them :]
My Japenese meal with everyone turned into an incredible and delicious feast that ended with the amazing tempura ice cream you see me pictured with. I hope this next year is even better than my last.
