be healthy. be strong.

I have been feeling extremely sluggish and have a lack of motivation since we welcomed 2012. Has anyone else been feeling a little like this lately? I have also been having some internal problems with my health and my body just seems less than pleased with anything I try to give it {might have something do with my recent spike in quick fast food meals} but regardless something needs to be done!

I am usually very skeptical about any detox for purchase or even those infamous lemon, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup concoctions . I usually end up getting my own fruits and veggies and protein powder and make my own creations. When I heard about this one and the great reviews it has been getting I was intrigued. After reading through their entire website and testimonials, I was sold and purchased my very own 3 day kit. I somehow even intrigued Brett enough and he purchased his own 3 day kit as well!

I was particularly interested because it is located and made from Palo Alto CA - which is right here in the bay area. Not only did the package arrive in 2 days but I knew exactly where it was coming from!

Here is the deal, they provide three smoothies a day that you drink for each meal. You can choose either the 3-day or 6-day program. You are also encouraged to eat any raw veggies you can through the day if you are feeling hungry still. The smoothies are gluten free and vegan  with a full serving of real fruit, fiber, 15g soy lean protein, 2 billion probiotic cultures, and daily vitamins in every pouch.

Head over to their website - and give it a try :) Leave a comment below if you have tried this before and let me know what your experience was like or you are interested and want to learn more.

the sweetest of birthdays

Happy Birthday Mommy!!

Yesterday was my Mom's birthday!!! We surprised her in the morning with her very own, brand new bike! It was so much fun to look around and shop and surf the internet until we found this amazing road bike for her. We {Brett} even found this perfect basket to mount on the front that was detachable so she can have a basket to carry around to the grocery store, or anywhere.

Then later in the evening we went out for a couple drinks, dinner and then finished it off at home with this beautiful and delicious cake that Brett's mom made. Unfortunately for you, there is no tasting option through this computer screen, but trust me when I say the Ghiradelli white chocolate frosting was the best part. I can still taste it now...

my superbowl sunday {in iphone photos}

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend and are recharged and ready to take on this week.

For the most part I had a pretty relaxing weekend and just decided to lay low for most of Friday and Saturday; Sunday however was a different story. I woke up early, ready and excited for the Superbowl. In the morning Brett and I went for some breakfast and came up with the game plan. We ended up going to three different grocery stores and party city to get all the supplies for the day. Then we came back and started to get things ready but since it was only noon we had some time. Realizing what time it was,  Brett quickly turned on the Puppy Bowl and we watched the adorable little puppies score some touchdowns of their own. If you have not heard about the Puppy Bowl I suggest you click the link and see for yourself. This year was Puppy Bowl 8 so I think you should check it out. From then on it was nothing but delicious food and drinks and heart pounding moments which eventually ended poorly for me. I am just happy they made it this far and were able to compete in the Super Bowl. I did not have my camera with me but I was able to take some pretty awesome pictures with my iPhone! What do you think? Tell me your favorite way to watch the Super Bowl.

wear red day

Today is February 3rd, 2012 also know as National Wear Red Day to help raise awareness for women's heart disease.

More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Unfortunately, the killer isn’t as easy to see. Heart disease is often silent, hidden and misunderstood.

This is a particularly special foundation for me and keep it close my heart because I am an Alumna of Alpha Phi International Fraternity where their main philanthropy supports this cause. Every year all across the nation, Alpha Phi chapters hold an annual Red Dress Ball, which became a huge passion of mine. I planned and organized both the 4th and 5th annual ball for the California State University at Northridge.

I encourage you to take this day to learn about the different ways to get involved and learn what you can do and make a difference in someone's life.

Macy’s is a proud national sponsor of the Go Red For Women movement. Wednesday, Feb. 1, through Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, Macy’s will conduct a Wear Red Sale to raise funds and awareness for Go Red For Women. Customers who wear red will receive all-day savings throughout the store. Customers not wearing red can purchase a Red Dress pin for $2.00 and receive the all-day savings. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the pins will be donated to Go Red For Women.

think pink

Happy February 1st everyone... it's only two weeks until Valentine's day! While I am not a huge advocate of the V-Day and given it's trademark "Hallmark holiday" I do however, like to stay positive and celebrate the little things. It's a great excuse to spread a little cheer and make your loved ones feel special and appreciated.

I found these adorable print out's and decided to put them up around my home and office for a little extra cheer. I also got some great little ideas for DIY pillow boxes to give away little treats to your friends, family, coworkers, peers at school or whomever to spread the love!
